Individual mindfulness teaching offers you the opportunity to explore in depth the most pressing issues for you, in confidence, with an approach tailored to you.
You could, for example, choose to follow the formal eight week course model. Or a more individually customised approach, drawing on mindfulness teaching and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
ACT teaches you the psychological skills to help you deal with unwanted and painful thoughts and feelings, so that they have significantly less negative impact on you. Exercises are used to help you identify what values are most important to you, so you can take the necessary steps to achieve a ‘rich, full and meaningful life’.
Everyone has negative self talk. Worries about the future or regrets about the past.. ACT can help you relate to these thoughts such that you do not become entwined in them, and that they do not prevent you moving towards your value-driven goals.
The focus is less on right or wrong, and more on what thinking is workable, and how to deal more effectively with life’s inevitable ups and downs.
