Why striving doesn’t help with pain – and what to do instead

Almost daily we are encouraged to ‘fight’ – against cancer, against drugs etc.

As if a war footing were a desirable default setting.

You could be forgiven for thinking your pain would resolve if you could just strive harder.

What if there’s a better way?

In this months’ blog, I look at the mindfulness attitude of non-striving.

In my new video blog, I discuss how the mindfulness attitude of non-striving can be your friend in reducing long-term pain.

I explains ways to ‘put down the fight’ in the interests of you feeling more at ease, and five ways to cultivate your non-striving skills. You can take a look here.

Releasing long-held beliefs and patterns is not easy. Be patient with yourself. There’s no quick fix for persistent pain. Being aware of where you are pushing too hard, and creating more tension in the process, and help you relieve stress.

If you have made it this far and think mindfulness might help you, I’d love to chat. Please get in touch for a complementary consultation.
